York Consortium of Drainage Boards

Welcome to your Drainage Boards

Welcome to the website of the York Consortium of Drainage Boards. This site provides information on the Drainage Boards administered by the York Consortium of DBs including membership information, meeting dates, area maps and Policy Statements.

The origins of the Consortium go back to Mr T L Kay, a Solicitor in York, who became the part time Clerk to several of the members of the current Consortium from the 1930s. Under his, and subsequently his son's (Mr D R M Kay's) management, some of the Boards merged into larger units and others were brought in to that loose arrangement. In 1999 the formal Consortium was formed.

The following are the current Boards of the York Consortium -

Ainsty (2008)
Airedale DC
Beverley & North Holderness IDB
Foss (2008) IDB

Our Vision

"For IDBs to make a significant contribution to the sustainable use of parts of England and Wales with special drainage needs.
IDBs should deliver an efficient, cost effective service and be recognised as key participants of the FCERM community providing water level management on a daily basis to the catchments they serve and assisting their partners.
Vitally, IDBs should be valued for the role they play in helping deal with some of the human and environmental challenges of the 21st century, and in improving and sustaining our quality of life."
